I'll change their world. Not "the" world.

What is the world coming to? When did parents stop being parents? Not necessarily not parenting. Just stop being The Parent. What on earth happened to children? They think they can tell you what to do, what they want and need? AND they get it because we just don't have time to deal with everything and THAT!  Respect, nah. Then to punish them, facebook is taken away? What happened to turning off the TV and making them mow the lawn for being bad. Why do they even have facebook??
When you sit at a dinner table, If that is even done anymore, and every member of the home has a phone next to them. That is a problem! (That would never happen at my home, dinner is very important for family chit chat.)
When did social lives become so dang important? What happened to having good friends and calling them on the phone? What do we have to talk about anymore? "Hey, How are you?" OH! That's right! I ALREADY KNOW! I saw it on face book. You had a bagel for breakfast and you went shopping. LOL!
Now, I have a face book. I enjoy seeing all of my friends, pictures and updates just as much as the next person. But when I see children and young teens sitting. Texting. Face booking all stinking day long. Take that shit away! Get them an imagination! Show them the beauty of a garden. The stars in the sky. The simple things like making a bird feeder out of pine cones. Talk to them. Show them how to bake some cookies. Get them outside. Mow the lawn. Make them clean their rooms and do their homework. Stack some wood. Get a summer job! Shoot...babysit for crying out load. AND you need to get out too! Get off your phone you text aholic! (I'm talking to everybody, including me!)
Now, The reason for this rant? I saw and heard something that was a real kick in the butt. Look at those kids! Look at the way they talk to their parents and other people in general. They think that the world owes them and that face book is payment enough for now, along with their cell phone and ipad. I would have been grounded for a million years! "You can't build a house without a hammer..."
Hunter and Jameson (and the next) are doomed children. My kids will NOT be those kids!
My kids will mow the lawn. Pick the tops off dead Rhody bushes. Play with the bunnies, cats, dogs and chickens OUTSIDE. They will appreciate their "things". They will clean their rooms. They will babysit for free because I say so. They will get what they NEED, They can work for what they WANT.
Did I ever get choices when I was small? Heck no! I babysat my sisters because that is what we do, without payment! I did yard work. I got a summer job stacking wood, bucking hay, yard work for my neighbors and cleaning horse stalls for money for my "things".
Talking with a friend it all became very real to me. Very real! If I want my kids to have a chance at all, I'll change their world. Not "the" world.
